Ampache is a web based audio/video streaming application and file manager allowing you to access your music & videos from anywhere, using almost any internet enabled device. Unlike Deezer or Spotify, you can install this directly on your own server to remotely access to all your audio and video files.

For quite a long time, we had no update of this software but a fork 2 months ago, called Ampache Doped received good feedback from the community. Well, the fork have been merged back to Ampache project! Happy ending? Yes as now the development have starting back again on the GIT repo of the project.

As you can see from Ampache website, a new design is here (more intuitive and recent) with some additional features too.
Definitely worth a try.

I’ve explained in a previous article how to install Subsonic (A audio video streaming application too), but I guess I need to add Ampache to my “To Write” list.

To be continued!
